Great men of God

Yes We Can Be Great

We started by asking the question “Is it Okay for a Christian man to desire to be great?”. The answer is a resounding YES. It’s not only Okay it’s our calling. Every man has greatness built into his DNA. It’s the reason we’re here. As you lead young men through the challenges of life be vigilant to sow the seeds of greatness into their lives. They can, and will, overcome their challenges because God has put greatness in them. The psalmist wrote Psa 8:4-6 What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him? For You have made him a little lower than the angels, And You have crowned him with glory and honor. You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all [things] under his feet. The enemy will tell Christian men that they’re not up to the fight. God says we are created to have dominion and victory over the enemy. God’s word declares that Christian men are to have this dominion over the evil one. We have this victory not because of anything in themselves but because of God. The struggle and potential sin comes when we forget the source of our greatness. John 15:4-8 “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. “I am the vine, you [are] the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. “If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw [them] into the fire, and they are burned. “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. “By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples. If we look at an orange tree full of fruit we know it wasn’t the oranges that produced the fruit it was the tree. So it is in our lives. We Christian men are will never be great in our efforts. In 1 Cor 2 Paul told the church I’m not coming to you under my own power. I’m coming to you in the name Jesus Christ. That’s our answer when the enemy attacks us, our families or our churches. We are great in and through Jesus Christ. Remember, Jesus has never lost a battle with the evil one.
